✨ Flashy Introductory Title

Hey all :waving_hand:

First time posting in a forum. Hopefully doing this right?

I grew up console gaming, yet somehow I still ended up a computer kid. Type2Learn in computer lab, the rite-of-passage bypassing censorship on the middle school MacBooks. High school I was introduced to the penguin by borking an install on the aforementioned MacBook, alas that’s where Linux exposure ended for about a decade.

Fast forward to now - I had started distro hopping about two years ago. Always had better luck with Debian stuff. Arch was spooky, Fedora always broke something (EXCEPT Bazzite, those guys rock). My distro ended up being LMDE7 for just about a year and it’s still what I recommend to new curious users (switched my mother’s main PC over to it and she loved that her older printer/scanner combo just worked. I said “Welcome, mother” lol).

Anyway. Cachy has been rock solid since my first install as a VM about 6 months ago. Was running Proxmox in the lab, decided virtualizing a gaming rig was a good idea. Now, I run the gaming rig bare metal and both laptops (work and home).

My choice felt solidified after the AUR stuff came out, and how well this community has handled it. Yes - it’s a serious issue - but it was handled with grace. It was refreshing to see, and made be a bit more hopeful overall. “The world sucks, but not as much as it did a second ago.”

If you made it this far, thank you for reading. I look forward to finding places to contribute, I saw a screenshot/spec thread that looked like a fun place to start.

Thank you for having me, thank you for being here :folded_hands:
