Hi everyone, thank you for welcoming me to your community. I’m new to Linux. I’m trying to install Cachy (desktop ISO) on a laptop with Windows 10 installed. During installation, I get this error: “The EFI partition is too small.” I don’t know what to do. I tried using gparted to modify the EFI partition, but I can’t increase it. Any suggestions, please?
I take it you went with the default Boot Manager - “Limine” - which needs a 4 GB partition. So you have to create a partition of 4096 MB - as Fat32 - which you set as /Boot partition. Might be better - if you shrink/trim it from windows - and create some unallocated space (like 30 GB, or… depends how much you want to use for your Linux partition) - then chose to manually partition upon install - and set a fat32 - 4096MB partition as /Boot + and the rest as /Root (if you have a SSD - you can leave it default to BTRFS filesystem, if HDD you chose Ext4 instead) - this is where CachyOS will be installed - pick / as mounting point.
If you choose limine as default it’s required 4 gb for the snapshots etc
I recommend to choose grub if you are new Linux user
Grub is the standard boot manager for Linux distribution
Is have snapshot etc but if you dual-booting with windows is required extra setup
Hi, thanks to your help I managed to install OS and everything works fine [for now]. Now I need to install my printer online [a Canon multifunction] but I can’t find the option to do so in the system settings. Thanks again for your help.
To print, search online for CUPS, there are plenty of tutorials out there. It is a matter of maybe 15 minutes.
For scanning, you could try skanlite (install via pacman -S skanlite), if that doesn’t work you might need to install drivers or software from Canon (might also be available in the AUR).
