Hi everyone, I can no longer update; I’m getting the following error message.

gdm is in the repositories and should not need to be removed in order to update.
Further something like 404 is not anything like a dependency problem.
Your 404 and similar errors point to some misconfiguration like a bad mirror.
If you ‘worked around’ your issue by just removing packages until the mirror you are using happened to have the package/versions needed for the upgrade .. you are shooting your system in the foot to be able to push it through a broken window (or mirror).
If the method was
Then nothing has been fixed and the system is actually probably in worse shape.
Of course assuming you ever needed gdm in the first place.
GDM was only installed because SDDM is not working properly. I’m using KDE as the desktop environment, and SDDM is causing problems (which is why GDM was installed in the first place). Sometimes I have to restart the PC two or three times before the login screen appears; before that, I only get windows with graphical glitches/errors. What can I do about this? I already had a post/thread here about it before, but unfortunately it didn’t lead to a solution. Maybe someone still has an idea.
But the previously detailed method was still “uninstall packages until the mirror stop complaining that they do not exist” .. which is not proper and means you are still using a wonky configuration.
For example .. this should not be happening as this is/was at the time of posting, the current package version.
Are you using an albanian arch mirror on purpose?
I suppose if its very nearby it might be preferable even if it sometimes lags behind (though an ‘acceptable’ lag is measured in minutes or hours not days or weeks).
I’m having a problem with sddm (see image), which is why I used gdm on my PC for a while. Everything worked fine until the day updates stopped working. I don’t know why an Albanian server is being used; I didn’t configure anything after the installation. Currently, gdm is removed from the system, and I’m experiencing the exact same login problems when I use sddm. So, it must be a problem with sddm that the login window only appears after the second or third restart, and before that (see image above), there are always errors. I’d like to use sddm since I’m also using KDE.
