DLSS frame gen is now possible in linux

According to this video, not only are they finally getting dlss frame gen working in Linux, but supposedly Cachyos has a custom proton file that allows you to enable it. Does anyone know what this file is and how I can try it out on my system? I do have the proton-cachyos installed, but still no dlss frame gen.

Frame gen and HDR have been the two things keeping me from making the switch to Cachyos full time. I think if I could get frame gen working I could live without HDR for awhile until Nvidia support for it gets better.

sudo pacman -U https://archive.cachyos.org/proton/proton-cachyos-1%3A9.0.20240928-1-x86_64_v3.pkg.tar.zst

That worked!! I tried that once and it didn’t work. Must have typed something wrong. Thank you!!

doe this enable nvidia fg for all games or just certain ones?

whatever games that support it FG. Can confirm the build naim posted is working for me in the latest Sony games (god of war and horizon for example) and giving better latency number than FSR.

Most should work yeah, but there are some that crashes when DLSS FG is enabled.

Hi, is this Proton named differently in Steam? Wich one should I choose once installed?

Got it installed and tried it out on cyberpunk 2077 last night. It works ok! Can tell it’s just a preview and not ready for wide release yet. Frame rates in Linux with frame gen on weren’t as good as windows, and it definitely wasn’t as smooth.

Going to try out other games tonight.

Are there launch options arguments to include? Do we have to use WINE_HAGS=1? I am asking, cause right now I am using the Nukem9 mod dlss_to_fsr3 frame gen mod with Proton-LFX2 to have frame gen on certain games and we use that argument.

No arguments needed.

Hi @naim, this update had already been pushed, because I got this warning

and those errors

That’s fine, it will fallback to another mirror.

Please show the full output. I don’t know which hook failed. Also, the update hasn’t been pushed yet, it just has the same package version.

Sorry for the noise on my part, I just realised that I cannot test this, I forgot the fact that my card doesn’t support frame gen (rtx 3060).

Ran this and loaded up steam, tried cyberpunk, ghost of tusima, and god of war. None of them show Nvidia frame gen in the settings.

Am I missing something?

Are you ring native or runtime steam? I had same issues with native version. Need to use runtime

yea i normally use native but i just loaded up runtime and no frame gen is showing other than amd’s.

It works, some games just don’t work at all.

Cyberpunk works flawlessly.

I wouldn’t describe it as “flawless”. It works, but it seems to add a lot of stutter to the game. Definitely not smooth. I feel like as it is, the DLSS Enabler mod with protonge 9-16 works much better.

Shame NoManSky launches to a black window/screen.

You’d think that one would work.
