Yesterday Cyberpunk 2077, which used to run perfectly, received 2.21 patch and I cannot run this game anymore. I guess the problem is related solely to proton-cachyos, as it will run under Wine 9-staging. The problem under proton is that the game hangs while displaying CD Projekt logo. Anyone else having this issue?
If you are certain that it is indeed proton-cachyos, you can open an issue in GitHub - CachyOS/proton-cachyos: Compatibility tool for Steam Play based on Wine and additional components.
How to be certain? I guess on my system I can only repetitively not run Cyberpunk 2077 under proton-cachyos and run under vanilla Wine.
I just tested myself. I have a heavily modded cyberpunk. When I launch from heroic launcher I have the same experience as OP. Tested it twice, reboot each time. When I launch from Steam the games starts, I’ll get error messages from redscript but that is expected after the Cyberpunk update since all mods need to be updated too. But it launches…also tested it twice. I also use the cachy proton…
I run Cyberpunk using Heroic Games Launcher, as I bought this game on Epic Store. No mods.
I just got it running via heroic. I went to properties of the game, Wine tab, I clicked on winecfg, it started installing stuff…exit the properties window, start the game and it worked…
Which stuff? I’m trying to make it run with winecfg for couple hours now - no success so far.
Sorry, my bad. I omitted an important detail, i set the wine version on wine 9.0 default before configuring Wine.
update: When I start up heroic, left column, wine manager, I downloaded Wine-GE latest and after that I was also able to configure wine for wine-GE latest…
But your point still stands…proton-cachy does not let me configure wine, but for now i am at least able to run the game
Well, I think that if it’s not some kind of a bug, then a .dll library is missing, although before 2.2.1 update everything worked.
Last update: Heroic launcher: I noticed I was not able to select DLSS frame generation when using proton-GE. When I selected proton-cachy the game wouldn’t even start.
I removed cyberpunk from my heroic library. Added it again, installed vcrun2022 and d3dcompiler_47 via winetricks and set the WINEDLLOVERRIDES=winmm, version=n,b environment variables again. Winecfg still will not start but now, when selecting proton cachyos Cyberpunk runs again and i am able to use all dlss features…
Yeah, DLSS FG is broken in proton-cachyos I guess. I saw this happen live with a streamer yesterday. Proton Experimental/Bleeding Edge seems to work though.
I also ended up on Proton Experimental/Bleeding Edge, so can confirm…
And what about fresh WINE release 10.0?
EDIT
It seems one can run new Cyberpunk 2077 2.21 version with Path Tracing ON but you need “experimental” 570-series drivers:
The streamer in the video tells tha CachyOS devs have packaged these drivers, but I cannot find them in my repos:
