Copy paste issue from WoW to browser

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently made the switch to cachy using niri + dms and I’ve been running into a small issue playing WoW. I’ve been running wow directly from Steam using cachy’s own proton version and I’ve been unable to copy and paste anything from the game to my browser and vice versa.
I’ve tried running WoW with faugus but the issue still remains, is it something that is to be expected or should I try with a different launcher?

Hey Yalu.

Do you use gamescope? This happens to me as well while using gamescope in lutris. Turning it off resolved it for me. Could be a niri thing as well, but I’m no expert when it comes to WM’s.

Thanks for the pointers! As far as I’m aware I am not running gamescope but I’ll try to run it to see if it changes stuff and if it doesn’t I’ll just run wow on KDE to see if it works better :smiley:

If you didn’t set the gamescope specific launch options in steam (right mouse button on battlenet within the steam library, under properties), then it’s not used in your case. But would be interesting if the problem persists while using an actual DE like KDE or Gnome.

Running it on KDE worked right away, no issues with copy pasting so that’s pretty nice, unfortunately on niri I made it work by using gamescope with the right settings for my resolution but the game looks very blury. Will just have to run it with kde I guess :smiley:

I did some testing once i came back home. I added the custom setting --backend sdl to gamescope in lutris and it enabled copy/paste from the game to the desktop and vice versa.

The game also runs perfectly fine, no blur no nothing. Have you tried some proton specific launch options?

I’m using:
PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
PROTON_NO_WM_DECORATION=0

To be fair battlenet looks a bit blurry while it starts up within the borderless window, but once fully loaded its fine.

Hey man, greatly appreciate you doing all of that! Lutris just didn’t work for me, I’ve tried a couple thing with steam and it was the same.
I did give it a go with Heroic launcher and it’s working flawlessly now, I even have my copy paste working and all of that so I could keep using Niri :smiley:
