Changing ICC profile for HDR

Hello,

My name is Patryk and I’m new to Linux. I’ve installed Mint on 12yr old laptop last month and CachyOS today on empty m.2 drive for my PC. I’d like to change how HDR looks like on my screen.
Exactly what I want is to change colour gamut to rec2020 (it is propably native settings which is sRGB) and gamma to 2.4 (it is 2.2 by default). Since I can’t do it on my monitor I have to do it via software. I did it in Windows with ColorControl app by generating new ICC file. I think I could use this file. Question mark near HDR colour profile selection says it uses built in colour profile. Does this mean it uses profile built in monitor or a system one?

How can I achieve what I want? I installed os with plasma desktop but I can switch to GNOME if it’s necessary or will make process much easier.

KDE currently has the best HDR implementation on linux (Gnome is still far behind).

The ICC is currently only for SDR. For HDR, it relies on your monitor’s internal HDR calibration. And your monitor is supposed to switch to rec2020 for HDR, with the proper gamma.

That said, HDR support still isn’t completely finalized (especially for games and X11 based apps, etc…), so things are still improving with each plasma version (the plasma 6.3 releasing in 3 weeks includes several HDR improvements).
