Summary: Cannot disable automatic screen lock on CachyOS with KDE Plasma 6.6.5

Description of Problem:
On a clean install of CachyOS with KDE Plasma 6, the “Lock screen automatically after” toggle in System Settings (Workspace Behavior ➜ Screen Locking) does not function as expected. The system continues to lock the screen after the specified timeout despite the toggle being off.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open System Settings ➜ Workspace Behavior ➜ Screen Locking.
  2. Uncheck the box for “Lock screen automatically after”.
  3. Click “Apply”.
  4. Wait for the standard timeout period (e.g., 5-10 minutes) without user input.

Expected Results:
The screen should remain unlocked after the timeout period.

Observed Results:
The screen locks automatically after the timeout period.

Additional Context:
The same behavior persists after disabling “Lock after waking from sleep” in Power Management. Toggling the “Manually Block Sleep and Screen Locking” feature in the system tray has no effect, and changing the system’s Global Theme does not resolve the issue.

i’m a little lost here, because on mine (same version exept the kernel as i don’t run the lts like you), my lockscreen settings is in System Settings → Security & Privacy → Screen Locking

It is unchecked, but after 15 min I have to type password to unlock the screen. This happened today only after applying regular updates. It was working perfectly yesterday!!!

i see if you want to disable you also must change the time of the drop box, here i see it’s set to lock in 15 minutes

here the settings needed to disable it : (lock screen time != than let the screen go off)

Problem is resolved. It was a configuration issue. I do not know how this happened. I’ve selected Never option to stop screen lock. I did not touch it before but it was triggered after applying daily updates. Anyway, please accept my apologizes for ruining your time.

This toggle is unrelated to the parameter above

All that toggle does is say “if I put the computer to sleep and then wake it back up, should it lock?” (i.e. the upshot being either prompting for a password after waking the computer from sleep, or not)

the Lock Screen Automatically, as I think you’ve just discovered, is a separate menu just for controlling, well, that (and thus has nothing to do with sleep/wake).
