Hi, just a suggestion, I’m ok with ARK and is good that Cachy KDE start with all archive available out of the box (on other arch based distros I have to manually install unrar and 7Zip lib) but I don’t know if other DE have good default archiver as KDE with Ark,so why don’t add Peazip in yuor repos V2, V3, V4 and Zen? For sure is more feature rich than others, well developed and updated.
This is not the first time someone has mentioned peazip. There are no other alternatives that can really compete with its capabilities outside of maybe using double commander to handle compressed files. Double commander allows you to set up your own compression based settings but you have to write every aspect from scratch if you want more then what it provides by default.
It IS a good alternative, it is generally a better alternative all around. It is good enough that you can safely set it to handle all archiving from default applications by specifying it then clicking a small icon to the right of the selected choice. clicking it opens a small dialogue window explaining what it can do, what is currently configured, and what it can potentially do. Setting it here will ensure that anything that might compress or decompress things in the background will all be handled by peazip.
