CachyOS (KDE Plasma) launches into black screen with only cursor visible

Yesterday I used the Kernel Tool Kit provided in CachyOS to install the BORE Terminal. Upon doing so every time my system starts up (reboot or otherwise) everything seems normal until the screen goes black, the default KDE Plasma cursor shows up and is movable, and nothing else.

I have been able to get into my computer (am on it now) by pressing CTRL+ALT+F2, logging into the terminal and launching plasma with ‘/usr/bin/startplasma-wayland. Once I am in everything works fine, from gaming to web browsing with no noticeable problems.

This same behavior happens no matter what kernel I launch (CachyOS, -lts, -bore).

Things I’ve tried

  1. Tried returning to an older snapshot but after reboot same issue arose and now all snapshots launch like this

  2. Once in CachyOS I tried to update the system

  3. run paru -S cachyos-extra-v3/plasma-login-manager. When run it shows a new version that has the same version number as the current (6.6.4-2.1), I’ve run it anyway to see if it fixes, no change.

  4. I did find a work around where I log in automatically using the settings menu which works but I want a more permanent solution. This also tells me that KDE is starting to an extent.

EDIT:

update to plasma-login-manager 6.6.5-1.1 came and now instead of a black screen I get a very faint login screen but if I type in my password and try to log in nothing happens. It is running in the background and I will update if anything happens but even checking now no movement.
