Hi, sorry for my bad english. I from Italy and this is my first time on linux. I have an old Z220 HP workstation with this components:
CPU: Xeon E3-1225 V2
GPU: Nvidia GTX1650 Low profile 75watt
RAM: 2x8gb ram 1600Mhz
SSD sata: faxiang 500gb 500mb/s rw
I choose CachyOS handheld edition for play my steam games and it work perfectly!
But gaming mode is lagging and when I turn on my PC I need to go in desktop mode for play.
If I open games on gaming mode the games crash or run at 12/11fps I think.
In desktop mode I use goverlay and all works perfectly.
Idk what is the problem. I don’t have a bugreport or something so, can anyone help me?
Out of curiosity, why are you using Handheld edition on a Workstation? That might be part of the issue.
I choose handheld version because i will use this small PC like console on my TV with only controller. Infact the system boot on steam big picture without password and it’s great! I try Holoiso only black screen, ChimeraOS can’t install, CachyOS work great on desktop mode. I just finished Horizon Zero Dawn and Batman arkham night. Hope I can solve this problem…
handheld edition is only thought for supported(and potentially to confirm not supported ones) handheld devices
Likely due to gamescope (compositor used in gaming mode) is has bad support with NVIDIA graphics.
Because handheld like steamdeck have an AMD radeon? I will switch to an RX6400 low profile, what happen if I switch the card? How can I install the driver and eliminate old one? Sorry, this is my first time on linux…

Don’t know. There is no support for Handheld Edition on Desktops.
Desktop Edition does not have gaming mode.
