Hello everyone, I hope you’re doing well! I couldn’t find any similar issues on the forum, so I’m reaching out for help.
I can’t seem to start the installation of Cachy OS. Every time I try to launch the install, I get a black screen, my keyboard turns off, and the lights on my fans also go out. I’ve recreated the bootable USB several times, but the issue persists. I’ve tried all three installation modes, and the result is always the same. For reference, I’ve previously installed Bazzite OS without any problems. My setup: RTX 3070 Ti, i5-10600K. If anyone has encountered this issue before, I’d really appreciate some help. Thanks!
Admittedly, it is quite confusing here It is better to search using the search engine for the forum: Black screen after installing Cachyos (official version)
Welcome to the forum
This is weird, but I’m familiar with the black screen. Are you using a HDMI cable to connect the GPU and monitor?
So, I tried switching to the HDMI port (I was using the DisplayPort), but no change.
I reformatted and recreated my bootable USB drive, but the issue persists (tested with 2 different tools).
However, I tested it on my old MacBook Pro, and I didn’t encounter the problem; I was able to boot without any issues.
I think it’s a hardware issue with a compatibility problem
HDMI was the problematic port so it’s different I guess. It seems to be a completely different issue too considering that your whole system shuts down. Did you change any BIOS settings perhaps that may be problematic? e.g. CSM, secure boot or something else (overclocks?)
Well, I’ve tried quite a few things again. I switched back to DisplayPort, reset my BIOS configuration, tested all the installation options—normal install, install with NVIDIA drivers, and the one for legacy hardware—nothing works. Anyway, I’m going to give up for now and wait for a future release to try again.
