I am planning to upgrade my laptop SSD from a 512GB 2280 NVME SSD to a 2TB 2280 NVME SSDD. I am using BTRFS and was planning to use Clonezilla to move my installation, but I read online that Clonezilla can have some problems with BTRFS and now I want to make sure that that is indeed the best option. If it is not, is there anything better on the CachyOS ISO?
If you are cloning, you can just try it, if it doesn’t work you can try other things and try again.
I don’t think it’s simple to clone btrfs. I would just gzip or rsync my data and recreate the system from scratch.
read this backup - How to copy a btrfs filesystem - Super User they mention a few tools.
Let us know, how it went. I’m curious.
Sadly ended up not doing it because I wanted encryption at rest on my laptop, just in case it ends up stolen.
Slowly rebuilding my system, but at least now I can rest easy in the event my laptop gets stolen.
