Asus PCE-AC68 issue (SOLVED)

I have been trying to get this one running for the past few days without a success.

It’s handled by the broadcom 4360 driver (supposedly), but broadcom-wl didn’t get it running.

Next I tried broadcom-wl-dkms, didn’t do anything.

Went on their website tried the b43 driver as I found the ID and it was supposed to be supported, couldn’t get it to work.

Found a github from a user that has a custom driver, followed his instructions, got stuck on the package trying to compile with gcc, but it wants clang so I couldn’t finish it. However I did finish the installation on another distro, and didn’t work.

Overall I have a second wi-fi on the motherboard (an intel wifi card on the motherboard), but the PCE-AC68 comes with 3 external antennas and the coverage is just superior, not to mention the speeds are perhaps 3x because of the bad connection speed.

I did mess around blocklisting around several drivers to not interfere, didn’t get me anywhere.

I’m no sure if this is fixable, but it’s my only issue and this is my last resort, as I’m no sure what else to try.

if it builds correctly, then I think it’s just a matter of using iwd instead of wpa_supplicant. See Add way to get wifi on the live iso in case of T2 Macs by AdityaGarg8 · Pull Request #97 · CachyOS/wiki · GitHub

Thanks for the reply. Shall I revert back to what CachyOs detected from the very beginning with the blacklisting of a few I’m guessing conflicting drivers as well?

Yes, please try.

Yup that did it. Thanks a lot. You have no idea how much time I had spent on this

I actually got to think about it and decided to get me an AX wifi card cause I already had the routers. I bought the AC68 back in 2015, when it was one of the best wifi cards, but turns out it was a dinosaur in 2025.

I’ve got a gigabyte AX card with an intel chip which worked right away. I should keep the same configuration right, I should not revert to the old one, since there was a proposal iwd to be default?

I’m also very pleased with the performance of the ax card with the ax router and cachyos overall. Ty guys.
