Are some old laptops limited to update to 7.0.1-1cachyos?

Hey there,I use 2 everyday drive laptops with cachyos, both just using Niri latest + DMS shell latest.

This laptop is a HP 340 and the second one is a Lenovo T400 . Last Thursday/Friday I updated both laptops. This HP got latest kernel 7.0-1-1-cachyos, but the Lenovo T400 hasn’t been updated into this cachyos kernel so far.

I just retried upgrade from terminal/Octopi in Lenovo T400 today but still keeps running kernels 6.19 & 6.18LTS.

Are some old lapotps limited to update to kernel 7.0.1-1-cachyos or do I have to do some extra tweak for it ?

As far as I know, older hardware will get the newest kernel a bit later, but feel free to correct me if i’m wrong.

It’s not compatible with v3. We’ll have to be patient a little longer.

I can keep waiting . I did not have that information about 7.0 linux kernel. :folded_hands:

Since you can’t take advantage of the Cachos custom kernels on the Lenovo T400, you can alternatively use the regular mainline kernel. (Please correct me if I’m wrong.)

sudo pacman -Syu linux-mainline linux-mainline-headers

Its really just the build status.

[cachyos] tends to get packages built a bit later than the optimized repo (v3, v4) for whatever reason.

CachyOS is designed for modern hardware.

Since only a few users are working on outdated hardware, the target audience is given priority. However, this is just a shot in the dark.
