I am installing the August test image with f2fs+systemd boot on my Samsung 990 Pro NVMe after reading this article on Phoronix. I will see how it goes!
Heh that article had me regretting using BTRFS for CachyOS. Oh well at least I get cool tiny snaps to restore with.
Do not take this benchmarks to serious. There was clearly something wrong, as well as compression was not used by BTRFS, which generally brings also a good performance uplift. Also, these benchmarks barely cover the real usage.
Major distributions, like Suse, Fedora, Red Hat, as well as companys like facebook use globally BTRFS.
First of all, August test image installation went without a hitch.

can’t verify this - here there the install was broken… ![]()
Why? Ive tested now every bootloader and every installation in QEMU and everything worked.
bcachefs and zfs installation with systemd-boot as well as refind on my hardware too.
@ptr1337 – just did another trial again
same result - look the screenshot please
and it’s this ISO

I’m sorry to hear about it @hotte . If I remember correctly, you have quite a few machines. Which hardware did you try to install?
If you click on yes, I could have the logs.
But since its failing at the keyring installation, its questionable.
@ptr1337
yes I did the click thinking the log will arrive at the developers…
Out of whatever reasons, your pacman database is locked. This sounds like that you either tried to install a package on the ISO, but it is hanging or equal.
I didn’t do nothing but click on the install-button in the live-system
whatever fails, it’s based on the iso
