Alt+Tab or any window managament shortcut not working

Hello guys,

I have just installed Cachyos yesterday, from the very latest iso, and updated the system (I am Arch user sine 2016, and used Sabayan LInux before that). I took the default, Plasma + Wayland. First congrats, the system looks very good, I haven’t used KDE since ~2001 or so. I am surprised it is very fast, and everything works out of the box, mounting NTFS drive (dual boot with two M.2 drives, an OS on each), battery indicator, The timezone was correct, but the date was two hours off despite showing correct city, but it is minor.

The major one is that no window manager shortcuts work! That is a bugger  ! I am looking at the shortcut dialog in keyboard section of the settings, and none of those specified work.

The laptop in question is Razer Blade 16”

Tell me if you need some more information. I haven’t tweaked any settings yet, just the default configuration as installed by Cachy.

Thanks for advice and kudos to all Cachy devs and maintainers for the great work on the system!

This is a known problem with dual-boot systems and (again) mainly because of Windows being Windows.

I have no hint for the Alt+Tab, though, as it just works on all my KDE systems. I guess you mean these?

I guess you mean these?

Yes. None of the shortcuts work. I have to use the touchpad and mouse cursor to do any windowing operation.

That is OK, it isn’t a big deal. I did move my hard drive from an older laptop, which had my manually installed Arch OS on it since before. I also installed on a dual boot at the time, and I haven’t seen that problem, it worked fine in that computer. There, I have just followed the Arch installation. Perhaps something in Calamares? But as said, it is minor, not a big deal at all.

However, shortcuts not working are a problem.

I had to reinstall because X11 which I used there, couldn’t find the screen. I went through all startup conf, reinstalled X, drivers, anything, but was of no use. After several hours I gave up and do what an Arch user is supposed to do, reinstalled :). Thought I would try Cachy, read good things about it, and also took the chance to try Wayland, so here I am. I did reformat the hard drive, so it is a clean install as much as it can be.

Thanks for the answer by the way.

Oki, after today’s update it just seems to work. Discovered by an accident. I have done zero changes with configuration or attempts to fix it after I posted the text, but it seems to function correctly now.

And after today’s update (April 30. 2026) it does not work again …. I try to restart plasma, restart the machine and nope. Keybindings are dead again. What is going on there? Some script? Some daemon?

I am not a Wayland user, this is first time I use Wayland, has always used X11, so I have no idea where to look,

I doubt that the keybindings have anything to do with the graphical protocols / composers. That just makes no sense.

Can’t say that I have any solution or even approach on that issue
