Hello there,
For various reasons, I’ve become… curious… about trying an alternative keyboard layout - colemak-dh - on my laptop. Happy days, Cachy OS / KDE Plasma actually already has that available under Settings > Keyboard > Layouts > Add layout. Under 'English (US) there are a variety of different ‘alternative’ keyboard layouts - dvorak, colemak, colemak-dh, etc.
The thing is… I’d kind of like to do this in baby steps, as it were. There are some ‘training’ versions of colemak/colemak-dh, called ‘tarmak’ (levels 1-4) out there where a person can ‘ease’ themselves into the new layout without losing all productivity. For a variety of reasons, that sounds really nice.
Unfortunately, though, none of the ‘tarmak’ layouts are listed in the KDE settings. And I’m a little fuzzy on how to get them in there, or just generally available.
For reference, I’m looking at trying to make the xkb files available from here usable inside CachyOS / KDE. There’s a bit of discussion down the page a ways on Wayland / KDE, but I really, really don’t want to b0rk my system if I can avoid it. I was hoping some other brave soul has maybe already gone down this path and has some words of wisdom?
Thanks!
