I have reinstalled CachyOS after installing the 7900XTX gpu. Everything runs fine for simple games, however, when I run something like Cyberpunk or some other demanding game, I will have 140+ FPS for the better part of an hour. Suddenly, the game will drop to about 5FPS until I quit.
I installed amdgpu_top and see that there an error stating thermal throttling has occurred.
During max GPU load I see the fans only spin up to 1400 RPM and never hit max RPM. Is there another GPU setting I am missing? I don’t want to wreck this card due to constant throttling.
I have installed CoreCtrl and attempted to force 95% fan RPM at 70C and then save. It does not change the behavior.
Update to this issue:
It is not a GPU fan/heat issue, despite seeing the alert in amdgpu_top. The sensor readout is clearly within a safe temp.
The issue that I am seeing is rather odd as it only affects movement. This is not isolated to Cyberpunk as it has happened in other demanding games.
The problem that I see is only graphics. Audio and sound effects have no stutter or latency to them at all. Only the graphics are stuttering. Any ideas?
I run into this issue too, I even get crashes to black screen which I cannot fix, I have even checked all logs and haven’t really found a solution, happens in cyberpunk mostly.
