[7.0.0-1-cachyos] Laptop Freezes after waking up from sleep

I have a habit of putting my laptop to sleep for long hours ( like 7-8 or more), with the new update I have been experiencing these freezes , the screen doesn’t goes black I can see my sessions but I can’t access anything , the mouse doesn’t works , the keys don’t responds ( including the tty screen). The laptop works fine till the sddm screen . Any help would be fine.

My PC:
Acer Nitro v5
ram -16gb
rtx 4050
intel core i5 13gen

in this case prefer boot on kernel LTS , and wait some update on linux70 for sleep

in the cachy os hello app, do some tweaks. i used to have this same issue . now its completely fixed and i never have to worry

can you give me the details of the tweaks you did.

check this out

Thanks , will confirm when the solution works

If am not wrong, nothing on these settings are related to sleep.

Didn’t worked

I have the same problem. Full freeze, exactly like the OP describing it, when waking up from sleep. I got an optimus laptop and the problem so far only occurs when i have a second screen connected.

It also does not happen all the time, roughly 10% to 20% of the time and about once a day on average.

My system is also freezing on sleep - and on attempt to shutdown or reboot too. If I want to stop using my computer, I have to force a power off holding the power button every single time at this point.

Yep, Cachy-Hello settings are not at all related to sleep. Sometimes newcomers on Linux want to help but don’t have enough knowledge to do it…

I was facing same kind of issue. The only fix was to open a bug on the vendor tracker (Bugzilla tracker for m’y use case, as my laptop is full AMD). AMD dev team fix it within 72 hours and release it on the next kernel. It requires some skills to debug according to AMD engineer requests, but now it works well!

yo creo que el problema es con la gpu, en mi caso me sucedia lo mismo, era porque no tenia los controladores adecuados para mi gpu

oops . then how is it fixed on my system after changing these settings? but i have seen this laptop freezing after waking up problem more common on cachy os and cachy devs arent taking it seiously

It’s not related to CachyOs but to kernels, and or acpi tables, and or GPU firmware, and or wakes up of some component or modules.

So please don’t blame CachyOS dev!

I repeat that Cachy Hello doesn’t aim at all to set sleep up, so it’s probably a kernel or GPU firmware update which have fix your issue.

i see, thanks for clarification

Same exact problem on my laptop. Also Intel CPU, Nvidia GPU. Just happen randomly.

Same issue for me. 4050 MaxQ. I use the nvidia proprietary package as I work with cuda. Downgrade to 590.48 works for me. It ridicules me that I can’t find any actual bugtracker issue. Having the problem for 3 driver updates makes me question whether the problem is even acknowledged and are nvidia working on it

Nvidia 610.43 solved my issue
