60% packet loss when connected to an unmanaged switch

So new to cachyOS just got it all installed today and ive been experiencing lots of packet loss only when im hooked up to my 2.5gbit dlink 8 port switch.

When i connect directly to my router/switch/access point via ethernet combo no issue
When i connect through wifi to the router no issue

Connected to this unmanaged switch is the only time i get packet loss. Tested by pinging various other computers/devices on my network
Ive swapped cables and reboot everything

Any suggestions?

Then it’s probably the NIC/drivers. I have had very bad experience with some Realtek NICs, especially the 2.5G ones on Linux. Get a different NIC, preferably Intel, or if you don’t have the PCIe slot/space inside, get a USB/USB C 2.5G Linux supported NIC

I believe I’ve discovered the solution to this. On install cachyOS loaded the r8169 driver which only sort of worked….

I looked around and discovered i could install a aur package called r8125-dkms
Link: AUR (en) - r8125-dkms

So far after installing it with paru it seems the issue has been resolved and i can go back to using ethernet

Working at the full 2.5 gbps now

Thats all I can think of.

Yes its much more stable.
