Hello,
I’ve recently got myself a 5.1 surround system (Logitech z906 to be precise), and to my surprise, the digital surround (a single TOSLINK cable from the motherboard to the speaker system) works out of the box on Cachy! No need to install any shady drivers like you’d have on Windows to get the DTS/Dolby Digital to work.
However, I’ve encountered a small problem:
The profile (in either pavucontrol or KDE plasma settings is set to “Digital Surround 5.1 (IEC958/AC3) Output” and the the 5.1 system works flawlessly.
Plugging in headphones to the front panel’s jack however does not switch the output to “Analog Stereo Output” automatically. When I switch to it manually, the headphones do work, but when I unplug them, it switches to “Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output” instead of 5.1 With stereo, automatic switching works just fine. How can I make Pipewire switch from Analog Stereo to digital surround 5.1 automatically, just like it does with digital stereo? Thanks in advance!
I linked the bug report script output below:
The motherboard is called Gigabyte AORUS ELITE V2 and its audio chip reports as “Realtek ALC1220”.
