My use cases with CachyOS: :rocket:

:high_voltage: Daily Driver for all my daily tasks

:page_with_curl: Office work is not possible?: Well, it is! Even though I have to work a lot with MS365 Business, I find that there are some pretty nice workarounds: Thunderbird, MS365 Electron, etc. - to “avoid” using Windows. To be honest, I only work with the browser-based official Microsoft 365, which is recently stable and gives me everything I need. For email signed with an S/MIME certificate, I use Thunderbird.

:gear: Machine Learning & AI related tasks:.
I started to spend my time, not only to expand my skillset for my main job, but also as a hobby, in the field of AI.
With CachyOS, I am working on various smaller projects (due to laptop limitations), such as: Creating chatbots with RAG functionality, tasks with different MCP servers, more complex N8N workflows and recently started working on a 3D rendering project related to AI.

:exclamation_question_mark: But do I still use Windows?
To be honest. It’s installed, but I don’t use it anymore because I’m now familiar with the office-related tools in Linux, so there’s no need for MS Word or Excel at this point. But due to the fact that I also have to work with PowerPoint, it might still be needed at some point, because it is something I have been doing for the last 10+ years, and I know that I work faster with native PowerPoint.

Virtualization: qemu-desktop, libvirt, virt-manager - GPU passthrough not needed, although it works, but the VirtIO driver / Spice guest driver are sufficient.

:laptop: My current laptop that I use (building my own AI rig is currently a side project in progress :slight_smile:)
