Working as a marine biologist all around the world has allowed me to gain skills and experiences in many areas such as management, recruiting, instruction, presentation, lecturing, scheduling, ordering, inventory and maintenance. Throughout my life, I have always been an incredibly instinctive person, both personally and professionally. And I have always coupled that ability with a determination to work as smart as is needed to achieve excellence in all of my endeavors. My insatiable desire to improve, has also been the life blood of my innovative and creative sides. While I am a biologist by trade, what I have really been doing for most of my career is managing/training people, and solving unusual problems in very difficult places. This kind of experience fuels my confidence to perform successfully in any environment. I am an idea person, and nothing cultivates ideas more than real life experiences. My original goal was to see the world, and being a marine biologist has afforded me the opportunity to travel, live and work in more than 40 countries.
Now I’m back in the States because my mother got cancer, and my sister, who was her primary caregiver had a massive heart attack two days later. So I returned after two decades overseas to take care of them, and ended up having to stay. Such is life…
I have an insatiable appetite for learning, and nothing allows you to do that like personal computing, so I aspire to be a computer enthusiast, and an advocate for open source.
