I am the founder of the Davao Linux Group, a local advocacy initiative dedicated to promoting Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and alternative operating systems in Davao City and nearby areas. My advocacy is rooted in the belief that technology should be accessible, transparent, and empowering rather than restrictive or costly. Through this initiative, I aim to introduce practical open-source solutions to educational institutions, local businesses, and Local Government Units (LGUs) that support digital independence, security, and long-term sustainability.

My interest in Linux and open-source software comes from direct, everyday use in real-world environments. I actively demonstrate how FOSS can be used for office productivity, education, system administration, and creative work without sacrificing performance or reliability. By sharing hands-on experience and practical knowledge, I help organizations and individuals understand that open-source systems are not experimental alternatives, but mature and dependable platforms suitable for professional use.

A key focus of my advocacy is CachyOS, the Linux distribution I personally use on both my laptop and main computer. CachyOS is a performance-optimized operating system based on Arch Linux, designed to deliver speed, responsiveness, and stability through an optimized kernel and carefully selected system defaults. Despite its advanced foundations, CachyOS remains approachable for new users through its graphical installer and well-documented ecosystem. I promote CachyOS because it demonstrates that Linux can be both powerful and user-friendly, making it an excellent option for schools, offices, and public sector environments.

Beyond individual advocacy, I actively seek collaboration and partnerships with schools, organizations, government offices, and fellow FOSS advocates. I am open to joint activities such as workshops, training sessions, pilot deployments, and community events that promote open technologies. Through collaboration and shared advocacy, my goal is to help build a strong local open-source ecosystem and encourage wider adoption of Linux—positioning Davao and nearby communities as forward-looking adopters of open, efficient, and people-centered technology.
