what went wrong with my installation?

I had this same issue 8 days ago… was given some help which did not work for me…so I just reinstalled an hour ago. Could not find some extra help in other forums so I took the short way home.

What I understand is that CachyOS is not recognizing its own packages made for v3 supported systems. So why one should care about packages for a supported laptop/pc which become incompatible with the same system in next update? I dont understand all this exercise?

okay nobody wants to help here but found a fix on reddit

Architecture = x86_64 x86_64_v3
Thanks but no thanks , CachyOS team making a distro isnt enough , support matters as well!

You are not using CachyOS’s pacman.

I bet you are wrong , I wasted time installing it from its Official released ISO , ISO/installer did not add the Architecture = x86_64 “x86_64_v3” part to this line then its not my fault and if you are making your guess from “x86_64” part as not being “auto” then you are again wrong because I change it myself from auto to x86_64 but if the CachyOS installer had added the “x86_64_v3” part to this line why would I remove it? because it will make happy to waste my time here asking for help? It is the worst behavior of some “gurus” “knowing everything” developers or users to assume and fire without accepting the flaws being pointed out. Nobody forced me to use CachyOS , but from day one it came out I have been testing it off and again and ended up in issues and now when it iis considered and advertised as “stable” it still has issues and forum in the name of forum is another waste of time and if you are one of the developer your one liner “help” shows how serious you are about your distro and that you have all the knowledge available in universe and you by your psychic powers know what a user is doing and that your divine helping powers can offer one liner “help” that make you look nothing more than a fool .
period!

And for your “expert” “know it all” psychic abilities here have a look at this

sudo pacman -Qs pacman
local/cachyos-hooks 2024.03-1 (cachyos)
Cachy OS Pacman Hooks
local/grub-hook 2.1-1
Pacman hook to update GRUB after a kernel update
local/pacman 7.0.0.r3.gf3211df-2
$ sudo pacman -Ss pacman
core/pacman 7.0.0.r3.g7736133-1 [installed: 7.0.0.r3.gf3211df-2]

Well here’s what you did wrong, of course v3 is not a valid architecture if you removed auto and only added x86_64. If you had kept it as auto, nothing would be broken.

Edit: see add support for x86_64_v{2,3,4} autodetection · CachyOS/pacman@076bd55 · GitHub. CachyOS’s pacman has auto-detection for x86-64 microarchitectures. Upstream pacman does not.

Now you are talking! helping and throwing a stone at someone showing that you know all is not help.
Still no thanks , I had to shake your walls to talk!

Dont try to intimidate me with your polished words , nobody attacked anybody , I corrected a gurus “behavior” What you are gonna do? delete my post , block me? go ahead! but refrain from treating users as your “yes boss” , dont want to help , dont! but dont show attitude. You refrain from intimidating users on forum in future as well!

Premptively locking this thread because it has gone offtopic and has a high chance of devolving.
