The size of 3rd party precompiled programs

(This is a techical question being asked out of curiosity and this does not change the user experience in any way.)

Can someone knowledgeable throw some light on my question - Why the size of 3rd party precompiled programs are different from that of what is available at Chaotic aur repo? For example onlyoffice-bin.

Usually size of the resulting executable for any application will be different based on the compiler used to build it and the parameters passed to it during the build process. Here, there is no building from source, Because both cachyos and the chaotic aur package is from the rpm/deb package provided by the 3rd party inside which lies the executable files.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Specially -bin packages should be the same size - are you reffering to the installed size or compressed size?

Compression can differ, depending on which options are used for compression
