Stuck at Plymouth After Reboot After Kernel Install Edit:& Updates

After installing the LTS-LTO cachy kernel I got stuck @ Plymought as Tittle states, I also have had those results in the past after either a kernel update, an NVidia update & the ones alike.

I m on the USB Key ISO right now.

It s not the most fun to have I must say.

Try regenerating initramfs. mkinitcpio -P from root.

Thx, from TTY I would guess

Well , when everything goes fine, can t get to TTY, we do Ctrk Alt F1 usually !

Well , after some screwing around with this recurrent issue, I decided to reinstall CachyOS again, I m kind of a bit tired of those issues that come after mostly /or every kernel &/or NVidia updates & some other related updates.

It s the easiest way, but not the best way to deal with this but it s the one I know.

You likely missed to install the NVIDIA module

@altman
have a look at 5.1 in

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Plymouth
and update the init as naim advices

Maybe, the LTS-LTO kernel was installed with Cachy Kernel Installer @ptr1337 , wonder what went wrong, maybe shitt happened , I don t know ! lol

Thx, appreciated @hotte , hopefully I wont have to use it !

Well , after a fresh install, I installed the LTS kernel from the Cachy Kernel Installer, & at reboot it stucked at Plymouth again, attempted to go thrue TTY, went on it, tried to enter my pwd to no avail, wonder why s that,

Lomg story short, went to another distro, guess that i m too much of a dumbass in order to have Cachy on my pc since the last 2 weeks or so. loads of issues,

I know the team s working hard but I guess that cachy s not for me .

As @ptr1337 have said, it could be due to you missing the NVIDIA modules. How did you install the LTS kernel? Did you also install the corresponding NVIDIA module built for it (linux-cachyos-lts-nvidia/linux-cachyos-lts-nvidia-open)?

hey guy - don’t bury your head in the sand
there will be a solution for every issue - keep calm and never give up :sunglasses: :+1:

❯ uname -r
6.6.52-1-lts

Oh, I bet that you went over it @naim , it was attempted to be installed both times with

Cachy Kernel Installer

.

Well Thx , I would think that ll take a break for some time @hotte

Well , after some failed attempt to either update or reinstall ISO, this newer ISO download resulted in success, lets hope it will be the same on next update ! lol

Edit: Fixed for now.

Well , here we go again, another update, another screw up. Back @ plymouth again .

I guess that I wont reinstall at every update that has somekind of kernel-related or nvidia update, that get screwed up somewhere.

Never had this before.

Well , I had to have the brilliant idea to install another kernel just a moment ago & I m still stucked at Plymouth surprise, surprise, all installed by the Cachy Kernel Installer, sas the other times above, wonder what s wrong again.

& I mm also nt able to enter myu pwd TTY whatever I m on right now, Edit: TTY2

I m on my lappy right now.

Wonder if I m alone like that or whatever.

Bet that I chould ve waited on the next kernel-nvidia update to see what would ve happened before attempting to add another kernel, silly me.

Well , here we go again sadly;

Here the lines I caught while updating , bet that I never caught it before that update journey, I wonder if it s why it never goes to plan while I update , either kernels, nvidia or something related to these;

β†’ Running build hook: [consolefont]
==> WARNING: consolefont: no font found in configuration
β†’ Running build hook: [plymouth]

This is fine, I assume that this line is from generating the fallback initramfs? Either way, this should not cause any issues,

Yep, but I m still stuck at Plymouth as the last times @naim , of which is pretty annoying, I m reinstalling again right now (on live iso)

Edit: in the time that I ve been on Linux ( from 2005sh maybe) I ve never had so many issues with updates in this thread weirdly enough.

& those are from Arch-based distros, the other ones don t have isseues like those on my end.

Wonder if I m alone like that.
