I get that, and that’s precisely why I decided to try CachyOS. But, the criticism of flatpaks that I’ve seen here, consistently, is overblown and misleading for beginners. For e.g., the developers of certain apps intend flatpak to be the only way users should use their apps. Many apps don’t have packages in the main repositories (for e.g. the music player I use - Recordbox).
Coming to performance, most day-to-day apps don’t show perceptible performance differences between their flatpak and Cachy’s optimized packages. For those, one might as well avail the sandboxing and permission system that flatpak offers. For gaming, 3D modelling, coding, etc - yeah, sure, the Cachy repos are great.
Basically, my point is that when a beginner comes here asking about flatpaks, it isn’t in their best interest to be told that it’s best to avoid them. There are many cases where flapaks are preferable.
