Samba Upgrade 4.21.3-1.1 breaks AD Integration

when installing fresh from the latest Live ISO Samba vs 4.21.3-1.1 is installed which breaks ad integration

wbinfo -u
wbinfo -g
etc.
complain about access to the winbind socket not being available

I have another machine running an earlier version with samba 4.21.2-3.1 that works perfectly
i took a timeshift snapshot performed the upgrade rebooted and it now fails.

When i reverted to the snapshot and rebooted it started working again.

I’d be happy to share the krb5.conf and smb.conf but i’m 99.9% sure it’s not a configuration issue because these same config files work fine with the earlier version of samba.

I’m not sure how to force a downgrade to the older version and i haven’t been able to locate changelog notes for the minor revision update but i thought i’d point out something that appears to be an issue.

Might be this, I’m not sure, but this is what looks relevant 15701 – More possible replication loops against Azure AD
Here’s the changelog Samba 4.21.3 - Release Notes
You should try to report this on their bugzilla.

In the meantime just use the snapshot, you don’t have to update often. If you want to update your system, add the relevant packages to IgnorePkg https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Pacman#Skip_package_from_being_upgraded

Thank you i’ll take a look at it
