As for the protonvpn app it’s absolute garbage. One week it works the other it doesn’t. The keyring issues are annoying as well.
I think it even forces gnome-keyring now days too.
I’ve been looking at alternative providers, proton has been lack luster for me recently.
At the same time many providers are using blocking techniques on vpns, heavy cloudflare implementations and ‘stealth’ is only available using the protonvpn app.
More vpns need to figure out better obfuscation otherwise they’re all just going to be blocked.
For now I’m kind of trapped in the ecosystem due to email and proton drive. I have a family account with 2TB and I have it setup for backups and sharing different sources, it’s extremely convenient and fast.
