Why?
stat is a command for file status.
It did not work because thats just garbled instructions to stat.
(stat was not mentioned anywhere here before. )
I dont know where that comes from but libinput works fine on wayland.
I daresay its what (almost?) everyone is using.
xdotools on the other hand not so much.
I dont know why focusing on that one when the libinput-gestures is what was on the page.
It also considers wayland support ‘incpmplete’ and it is done through XWayland but says it is reported to work on KDE Plasma and has had commits up until 5 days ago.
Normally just using system settings and/or the respective applications.
Besides DE/WM support this may also depend on your exact hardware - as poorly recognized touch devices may not present (as many) useful options.
If you need something more then you probably do want to go looking at some other utility.
But we still do not know why the one you were trying does not work or if any of the other options do or do not.
