New install Graphics Issue (glitchy) with Nvidia RTX 3050 6GB Desktop and Intel UHD 630

Not sure what exactly is going on. I have a new install of CachyOS, 565.77 Nvidia driver. I have 3 displays. Center display is hooked into the Nvidia RTX 3050 6GB Desktop card, outer displays are hooked into the onboard UHD 630. I have tried both displayport ports on the 3050 and both are doing this:

Both monitors hooked to the UHD 630 work fine.

Please try the closed modules
sudo pacman -S linux-cachyos-nvidia

I will definitely try this when I can, but I’ve hit another issue now. I tried installing Bazzite Nvidia to see if I had the same problem there (I did) - and a command I found there shows that the Nvidia GPU was not being used at all despite being set to “hybrid”. Decided to reinstall cachyOS at that point, but now I can’t get cachy to boot into the live USB anymore to install, it gives me a blank screen after loading similar to this post: 7900 XTX can't boot into liveUSB or distro

I thought maybe it was because I tried bypassing the iGPU by plugging all monitors into the 3050, but plugging one back into the UHD 630 onboard gives a similar result (though with no _ now, and the 2 monitors that are on the Nvidia card show nothing at all so they turn themselves off), where the _ shows on all 3 monitors at the freeze with all 3 plugged into the 3050.

:face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Going to try the live USB using the closed Nvidia driver this time and see where that gets me.

Okay, that worked. I’m back in CachyOS now - same issues as before, though I don’t know if using the nvidia closed option on the live installer means I have nvidia closed drivers on the actual install or not. I can see that like Bazzite, it shows off for my 3050 when I use the nvidia-smi command:

I’ll add that I don’t think I need the iGPU - should I try disabling it in BIOS to see what happens? Or is there another way to force CachyOS to ignore it?

same issue, maybe a little worse actually, after this:

sudo pacman -S linux-cachyos-nvidia

happen to know the command to go back to open drivers? I think the problem is probably related to the 3050 showing as Off with nvdia-smi?

Thanks!

sudo pacman -S linux-cachyos-nvidia-open

Yeah sure, but you need to plug in the monitor to the NVIDIA GPU first.

Success! I couldn’t find anything to disable the UHD 630, but there was an option to choose which card is the default controller when there are multiple. I switched it to Nvidia from Auto. Works great on both open and closed drivers now. Thanks!! Just gotta get bluetooth sorted now and I’m off to the races.
