Linus Torvalds is annoyed about new developments in x86 CPUs
The whole naming with ‘v2’, ‘v3’, ‘v4’ seems to be a crazy artifact from the glibc world, is stupid and should be abolished. Instead of asking if a CPU supports a specific instruction like ‘cmpxchgb16’, we now have to find out what the hell ‘v3’ actually means. (Linus Torvalds)
