Is the kwin 6.3.0-2 currently in the CachyOS distro equivalent to Arch's 6.3.0-3?

See title. I want to make sure my system doesn’t break when I upgrade on Friday.

No it’s not. 6.3.0-4 will be Arch + other patches (fifo, tearing, HDR). The libei no prompt patch is broken currently but maybe I fixed it already.

Does this mean that wayland didnt support tearing before, even though the UI option was there?

I was looking if this wanst why ULMB2 didnt work on wayland. Other than nvidia.

Is there anything else missing from wayland on kde related to this?

AFAIK it did. The following patch only adds support for the backend.

What does backend means in this context?

No idea, backends/wayland: support tearing and HDR (!7097) · Merge requests · Plasma / KWin · GitLab give it a read for yourself.

A Wayland backend is a compositor that uses the Wayland protocol to communicate with clients

By that, the UI was there while the functionality behind was not. But who knows for sure.

The functionality was there. It was already supported in the DRM backend.
