Hello,
Love CachyOS and it works flawlessly on a number of desktops and laptops; my favourite distro. However I’ve a new Zenbook S14 with the Lunar Lake chipset. Kernel 6.11 does boot successfully with Ubuntu 24.10.
With Cachy, install is stuck on 'A start job is running for Wait Until Kernel Time Synchronized (xx sec / no limit) and the seconds turn into minutes and keep ongoing. I’ve tried the first two install options which get stuck here, and the third the no-GPU one gives a kernel panic.
Same problem here, with Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Aura. Maybe once installer is updated with kernel 6.12, then problem(s) might be resolved?
Please ask if helped needed with test installer iso etc, thanks
I’m also unable to load the CachyOS installer on my laptop, seemingly because of this issue.
If I pick the regular "CachyOS " install option the installer ends up on a black screen after the boot diagnostics messages. If I pick the nomodeset/legacy hardware option I can see that it gets stuck on “A start job is running for Wait Until Kernel Time Synchronized”, which just loads indefinitely.
I’ve tried the latest Arch ISO as well which loads just fine.
My laptop is an HP Spectre X360 15-ch020nd from 2018, with an i7-8705G and AMD RX Vega M GL graphics.
I’ve tried both Ventoy and directly writing the ISO to the USB. Using UEFI boot. Not connected to Ethernet.
Same issue here I run a ASUS Zenbook 14 Oled UX3405MA and also just get stuck in the same way I have been a long time user of Endeavor OS no issues thee or Fedora 41 Silberblue as I currently use
update: Good news! Lenovo finally released a firmware update - v66. CachyOS installs and seems to work fine - repo-v3. Onboard speakers don’t work (hopefully next kernel series will fix that) bluetooth headphones work.
Pardon me, but may I ask where you’re from? I suspect this issue was caused by our change the default NTP server to Cloudflare/Google, it’s possible that your ISP is blocking access to them.
