HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2775 All-In-One Printer

Hi everyone! I’m new to CachyOS and I can say it’s the best Arch Linux based distro I’ve tested so far. I installed it a few minutes ago on my Desktop PC ( connected to my WiFi network via WiFi dongle).
However, I encountered the first issue which I have not been able to resolve no matter what I try.
I have a wireless HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2775 All-In-One Printer which USB cable is not available to install and set it up this printer. I made sure to select Printing packages during the CachyOS installation and they all got installed successfully.
When I launch the Printer Settings from the Menu in the panel, click on Add button, my printer is not recognized. I made sure the printer was set to be discoverable, I even reset the WiFi connection as HP support page explained for this model, and still getting the same error when I try again or even if I use the Terminal command sudo hp-setup -i. I get three options and tried both USB or net connection but it always returns the same error: “error: No device selected/specified or that supports this functionality.”

I installed AUR helper yay and then installed Octopi to make sure I could check each one of the packages were successfully installed. They’re all installed:

  • cups
  • cups-pdf
  • cups-browsed
  • printer-manager
  • system-config-printer
  • hplip
  • foomatic-db (all of them)

If I try with CUPS Web Interface, it does not find my printer either. Fir the sake of testing, and even though I hate Windows OS, I tried to install the same printer on an old Hp laptop running Windows 10 and to my surprise, the printer was recognized after installing the required drivers to complete the set up.

What am I missing? Any help would be highly appreciated.

For some reason your printer is not in this list All Supported Printer Models | hp's Developer Portal

Which is weird, because even my ancient laserjet 1018 is in this list.

Sorry I have found this, looks like it’s just under this

HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2700 All-in-One Printer series	3.20.5	Yes	Yes	Full	Color	Yes	No	USB,Network

I think these printers have a web admin interface, you should try to access that, I don’t know how, and check if it’s connected to wifi.

These steps got the job done! It was exactly my very same behavior, the printer was connected to a different WiFi network before and I changed provider and therefore a new password was given (which I have not changed to my same old password).
Anyways, the steps described here worked like a charm! Thanks a lot!
