How to properly use SpoofDPI

Hi everyone,

I have recently switched to Linux for good with CacyOS for my work and personal PC. I am snooping around and saw that CachyOS Hello has SpoofDPI installation option. I checked it out and decided to install.

But there is no information about it anywhere. Not on the internet and not in this forum. Isn’t that interesting?

SpoofDPI is installed that’s ok, but it’s not clear if it is already intercepting connections or not; and no information about how to configure it if it’s not an automated process.

I see that its cli can set it “system wide” but it says it is the default behavior already. If that’s the case, then shouldn’t the system wide proxy settings show it in action? But the system settings proxy page still says there is no proxy configured, should I do it? And how to make it run at startup?

There are also other related questions:

  • What to do if I am using AdGuardHome (both locally and remotely) self-hosted? I am using a local AdGuard instance and also a remote redundancy with DoH. What is to consider when using them with SpoofDPI? (There are these -dns-addr and -enable-doh flags but nothing is clear at all.)

  • If I choose to use other proxy tools to better block ads by content rather by DNS, like Squid or Privaxy, how will the two proxies work together?

Thank you, but as I already stated, that’s not informative and surely not informative on CachyOS condition. Because CachyOS put it on “CachyOS Hello”, on a very special place that greets you first, and it only says “install” and it installs without giving an idea about “now what”.
