How can I make it so that when I run a game in Heroic Game Launcher or Steam, its icon appears in the taskbar?

I want the game’s icon to appear in the taskbar when I run it. I use Dash to Panel for the taskbar, and instead of the icon from the uploaded image, I want the game’s icon to appear so I can easily differentiate it. The games I have tested were run using Wine and Proton, but I haven’t tested with native Linux games.

Maybe you should use KDE, it works for me (icons on taskbar). Currently running Solasta from Steam…nice icon.

I am using Gnome, and the icons are not showing; instead, the photo icon appears.

Maybe the .desktop file references the wrong icon?

With Gnome your customization options are very limited; no traybar, etc.

In the end, I installed KDE Plasma. Thanks anyway.
