I’m building my first home router, and while I have one Intel gigabit NIC embedded onto the board, I need a second for the LAN (or WAN) connection. The only potential limiting factor is that my H67 chipset only supports up to PCIe 2.0, but that shouldn’t be a major factor, from my understanding of things. This is for a small home network of 5 machines, so no need for anything fancy above being just a reliable NIC that plays nicely with pfsense or a similar setup. It’s for a standard Mid-ATX case, having full-height expansion slots.
I know there are dozens of cheap NICs that say they’re based on an Intel chip on Amazon, but I’d prefer a card that’s more properly branded.
Would any of you mind helping me find what card(s) I should check into? I’m based in the US.
Thank you!
