Hello from Paris

Hello,

My interest in CachyOS comes from the fact that I was looking for a Linux distribution that could accomplish the same tasks as Windows or even more.
I use my mini-pc mainly to rip Blu-ray disks, transcode them, then transfer them to my NAS.
I tried several distributions on an old USB3 hard drive. Most had trouble booting live or did not have the codecs pre-installed. However, I managed to install TUXEDO OS and CachyOS on the external hard drive. But due to the slowness of the hard drive used, they remained slow. CACHYOS was however much more responsive. So I reinstalled it on an external SSD to obtain equivalent performance, or even a little better than Windows on Geekbench6 and kdiskmark. And I will now be able to use makemkv and handbrake to transcode my Blu-ray disks. I also installed plex desktop in flatpak to view the videos transferred to my server.

I noticed 3 problems:

  1. At startup, Cachy Browser does not reopen the previously opened tabs. I installed Zen Browser instead.

  2. Since the last system upgrade, allowing to go to plasma 6.3, the CachyOS Hello window no longer has buttons.

  3. Since the last system upgrade, allowing to go to plasma 6.3, if I call the application launcher, then scroll on the categories, the content of these categories is no longer displayed automatically, it is necessary to click on the category to see its content appear in the column on the right.

I answer myself.
Problems 2 and 3 were easily solved by modifying the global plasma theme (point 2) and the applications launcher settings (point 3). My only problem is the Catchy browser, which always refuses to repoen previously opened tabs when launched.

This will be indicated in the terminal during the update.

In the Cachy Browser, click on the hamburger symbol (three lines one below the other) in the top right. In the menu that opens, look for Settings and click on it.

Then you will see Privacy & Security on the left.

In there, under Custom, look at the check marks that you want to remove… et voilà!

The problem is now solved, i can reopen previously opened tabs.
In Privacy&Security, History option was set to clear history.

Thanks for your help.

Glad it worked.

Remember that you have to repeat this procedure after every cachy-browser update.
