Hi from Germany!
Since I am new to CachyOS and the community, I just wanted to introduce myself and do my best to participate in discussions and share my knowledge and, of course, learn new things.
I’m from South Germany, near Munich, 50 years old, and I was introduced to Linux back in 1998 with my very first job in an IT consulting company. I was hired as an Administrator for Sun Sparc Workstations and Oracle database maintenance, so I took the Linux/Unix crash course at home with SuSe Linux 5.3. Like, a book with a few CD-ROMs. And my Compaq Desktop machine (whatever drove me to buy an actual PC from Compaq) was not so very compatible with Linux back then, so it really was a hassle to get the first edition of KDE running on this Pentium thing.
However, these days, I’m back in to Linux since two years, after a very long time only working with Windows and macOS. I still have a beefy gaming PC with Windows 11, since I do play various anti-cheat heavy titles with my family and friends. Working and mid-tier gaming is the domain of my little, brave Beelink Mini-PC (SER8), running CachyOS. Usually I am into Debian-based distros, like Pop!_OS and Debian itself, but it was time to jump into a real Arch-based system. And I really enjoy it a lot so far.
I do like Gnome from a usability standpoint, so my Cachy is Gnome based, very subtle pimping with some popular extensions like Open Bar, Vitals etc.
So, good to be here, I am ready to enjoy the discussions!
-D.
