Hello and a general thank you to the developers

Hello, my name is Scott. I just wanted to thank the developers for making this distribution. CachyOS has been the easiest distribution I’ve ever used to set up anything gaming on. I’m not a developer and I don’t have a ton of experience using Linux, just some trying it out here and there and the main thing that always kept me going away from Linux was gaming being such a pain to set up - there are Linux versions or equivalents to anything else I use.

With CachyOS it’s all basically plug and play simple, install the gaming meta and the games and play.

Beyond the simplicity of installing and playing the games they perform often times equally or better than on Windows.

The only game I’ve been unable to figure out is the windows store version of killer instinct but there’s a steam version that performs so much better on CachyOS than the windows store version does on Windows anyway - I’d just have to buy the unlock again to be able to use any character any time.

I’ve wanted to switch completely to Linux since the early 2000’s and it finally feels as though I can do so without spending hours reading through tutorials that I don’t understand and ending up having to fix things I break by doing things wrong. I had installed dual boot and my only regret is wasting some hard drive space by leaving windows installed.

With everything going on in the Intel and Windows worlds it’s an excellent time to have a distribution that gets everything right and makes everything easy.

Thanks for the time you all have put into this, you’ve made a masterpiece.

I don’t actually mean this to sound pedantic, but you (everyone) should probably try to not do things they don’t understand. If you don’t understand it, you probably are going to be doing more harm than good. Go learn.

Haven’t broken anything I couldn’t fix easily - basically broke sound once when I installed an audio recording app from the repo. Thanks for the advise though.

Well, that’s indeed how we learn…by research, trying, doing, and fixing our mistakes.

Exactly, and CachyOS being Arch based makes it pretty easy to find useful info. Between the Arch wiki, CachyOS forums and wiki, and other distros information, such as EndeavourOS the answers / info is easily found and often you can find a version of the information that is easy for new users to understand.

Typically I don’t know what info to read until something is an issue though, and with CachyOS there haven’t been many issues.
