New to the forum but I’ve been gradually finding myself using CachyOS more and more recently and really like it so figured I should get registered.
I’m old enough to have started my linux journey before Ubuntu and Fedora existed, I have a feeling it was Mandrake and Red Hat linux that I tried first, but couldn’t get my head around it lol. I was 17 at the time with undiagnosed ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia getting in the way, I gave up and went back to windows.
After a while I tried this new upstart called Ubuntu, that was meant to be easier to use, but I would always come away scratching my head because back then you needed the propitiatory drivers for ATI video cards and couldn’t get them to work. So, back to windows I went. I’d pop back to linux from time to time but still never got my head around it until in 2020, I thought I would have another go at getting the skills…
It was manjaro that helped me a lot, and then feeling a bit more confident, I learned to install Arch the manual way, which was a game changer.
I’m a pathological distro-hopper, (Someone could write a paper on ADHD and distro-hopping I’m sure). Though I’m pretty conservative at the moment, I only have CachyOS on one laptop, and CachyOS + bazzite on the desktop… For now lol
CachyOS has been great so far, the system seems faster with the optimised packages, and the tweaks are spot on. I’m a librewolf fan so having cachy browser by default is perfect, I always end up using profile-sync-daemon and that’s a one click (and works with the browser), and many other nice little touches.
Thanks devs and community…
