Thanks,
Yeah I discovered this before as I could not get HDR working in Days Gone and was confused as to why, then I installed the layer and it worked.
The main issue Iâm running into is that using wayland in proton seems to disable steaminput, so none of my controllers work. Sucks, but Iâm sure itâll be addressed eventually. I can get HDR working with that layer too.
Have you tried Proton-GE? It looks like Steam Input is broken in Wayland according to the GE release notes
- sdl will automatically be used when wine-wayland is used (this is because steam input does not work yet on wine-wayland)
Im not able to replicate this, but when i use gamescope HDR does work. Any ideas on what could be the issue? I am able to use HDR through gamescope though.
And yes i have the vk hdr layer for Nvidia
This post is outdated now but wonât let me update it. If you are using Proton-GE or Proton-CachyOS with a Nvidia GPU, the commands are:
PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 %command%
ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 enables the layer.
OH yeah, i tried that launch options but the games show the HDR options greyed out.
Maybe i installed the vk hdr layer incorrectly?
Or if it was incorrectly installed it wouldnât work neither with gamescope?
Im really noob in all the linux thing lol
Do you have multiple monitors and if so is one of them non-HDR?
I donât, i only have one monitor fully capable of HDR (enabled through KDE Settings)
Wait i have an update, probably is an issue with the game, because i was trying to enable it for the Like a Dragon games and they didnât worked with Wayland proton but worked with gamescope, but, Split Fiction worked with Wayland proton.
I guess it can also be a compatibility issue?
All my games are using cachyos proton but maybe the âvariablesâ or whatever the Dragon engine games need are not the correct ones with Wayland?
Weird issue, i havenât tried with other games though
Just Dragon engine games and Split Fiction
Technically, you donât have to enable HDR because Plasma will inverse tone map it. Have you tried toggling full screen to borderless window or vice versa? I noticed some Windows users report having issues with toggling on HDR too and that is basically what they did.
Hello hello, i tried to follow your advice about runing it then changing from fullscreen to borderless or vice versa but the game now doesnât open at all, lol
Split Fiction still works but the Dragon Engine game now doesnât work
What game is it? If the game wonât it even launch, something with prefix might have been fouled up. You can try deleting it, after you have saved your saved game files of course, and then let Steam rebuild the prefix.
Itâs Like a Dragon Gaiden The Man Who Erased His Name
Man what a long name, lol, iâll try deleting the prefix
There is no solution for that yet, right? With proton-GE my DS4 doesn´t work (but for some reason my 8bitdo works).
Have you tried Proton-GE with the launch option
PROTON_PREFER_SDL=1
Hello again, i tried deleting the prefix from the compat data folder on steam and it didnât worked, the game launches or it shows as launched acording to steam but a window never pops up to play the game, thereâs nothing in the taskbar neither
Just to confirm that this works fo rme at the moment:
PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 %command%
nvidia 4090
Does this only work with KDE Plasma? I am on sway here with AMD. But with the TKG-Proton HDR is greyed out in the game.
It should work. Having an AMD GPU, you should only need with Proton-GE or CachyOS
PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 and PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 %command%
Well with these settings I can turn on HDR in game (Mafia The Old Country).
But I donât think this is real HDR. At least my monitor still says, that HDR is off.
