Greetings from Northern Arizona

Hi everyone,

I finally stopped using Windows 11.
I have no idea how to get help setting up CachyOS with my “bleeding edge” Hardware since Im brand new here.
I have AMD 9700X CPU, PowerColor Red Devil 7900XTX GPU,MSI X870E Carbon Wifi, I cant get optical output to work for my sound( been using optical out on Windows since 2001…)
I havent figured out how to get Netflix app installed
4K/HDR looks terrible on my ASUS PG42UQ monitor
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Welcome aboard @leofury

Looks like you have a great outfit in there. Sadly I can t help out on your issues.

I also have an optical output on my MB, but have no use for it yet. I only have that MB for some months now. It s an Aorus Z790 Master X with a small i5-13600K cpu.

My GPU s an old EVGA GTX1080TI FTW3.

I assume you use KDE and that you specified your sound card in the sound settings panel. Do you see something like S/PDIF in the drop-down?

Unfortunately, “cutting edge” and Linux require patience. In time, everything gets supported but for now, a quality audio cable is your best option.
I have a fairly capable home recording studio setup and use analog and USB although my Genos has a digital output.

Audio has come a long way on Linux. Maybe specify your desktop environment and sound card brand so that those who know can help you better. Posting on reddit would be better as there are tons of Linux users who might be able to point you in the right direction.
