Generic Xbox Gamepad Issue

Hello,

I am having a strange issue with my gamepad. In the past while using cachyos I was able to get this gamepad to work without a hitch. My guess is that the “install cachy game packages” option from cachy hello got it up and running. This was maybe about 6 months ago. After distro hopping for a bit and since erasing that instance of cachy and reinstalling it again I am now running into an issue. The gamepad will not even light up. I have tried installing xone and xpadneo and xboxdrv to no avail. In steam it will not even recognize it.

My gamepad is a wired one meant to emulate an xbox 360 controller. I have searched around for a similar issue and the fixes I have found do not work.Could someone assist me in fixing this?

Kind regards,
John

i had also problems with my gamepad (gamesir HE) thats also marked as a generic xbox gamepad.
kde noticed me the hole time that it is connect and disconnecting.
tried some things like xboxdrv and stuff but what helped in the end was antimicroX from the cachy repo (i just set it in the systemstart options so its always running)
maybe thats not a realy clean solution and more of a workaround but i hope it helps.

Thank you, this sounds like a great idea but there is still a bit of a problem.

Somehow the program can see the controller there but it for some reason does not receive any inputs from it when trying to map it.

Not sure what to do about that.

I have the same problem but i found a workaround see here:

Known issue but a workaround is here

Just tried the steam trick and it did not work for me. For some reason the controller will not even light up and turn on at this point. I just tried it on a friend’s windows machine and it worked fine so I know the controller still works.

I’ve installed xpad and still the same, nothing works. Should I remove the previous drivers? Could they be interfering?

I currently have xboxdrv and xpad installed.

Hello,

I have since figured out how to solve the issue on my own. I still don’t know what the actual issue was, perhaps it was conflicting drivers?

I removed xone, xpadneo and xboxdrv and then installed jstest-gtk and calibrated the controller. Somehow this worked for me. The controller does not light up but is fully functional. Hopefully this helps anyone who was having the same issues I was.

Thank you to everyone in the thread who tried to help me.

Regards,

John
