Fish opens two windows in the task manager

I’ve been trying to find information whether this is how fish initializes or I have misconfigured something.

Basically when I open ‘fish’ from the start menu or my Quicklaunch, it opens up the terminal, but I do have a 2nd tab in the task manager that shows up briefly for a second or two with a loading circle and then it disappears.

I can’t remember if it was always like this and tried to look for more information but can’t really describe it properly.

This isn’t an issue for me but more of a general wondering if this is the normal behavior as something like Alacritty doesn’t do that.

After tinkering for a while and eliminating scenarios with deepseek for wrappers and what not, it turns out it’s the Startup Notification and simply setting the option StartupNotify=false in the desktop shortcut fixes that.

This option can also be found when you edit the icon, click on Application → Advanced Options and remove the check next to Enable launch feedback.

I feel silly now for not actually trying this from the very start
