Dual screen issue

Having a weird issue that only popped up with the latest Nvidia driver release / system update. I usually run two 1440p screens, one VA (general usage) and one OLED (games primarily and which lately I’ve been upping to displaying 4K). I have an RTX 4080 Super and so far I’ve never had any issues but now, my secondary OLED screen seems like it pops in and out. Its normally just a black screen but at random, the screen just stops working. I know bc if i mouse over to it, the mouse continues to run off screen (along with anything I drag over) but disappears as if the screen is actually off. Just wondered if anyone else had run into this issue yet with the new 570 drivers.

I have the same problem and am running an AMD graphics card. So I can say that it is not an Nvidia problem. The error occurs for me under KDE WAYLAND. KDE X11 everything is as it should be. Does anyone have a solution?

Bug Report

I actually figured out what it was, if you have the same issue. Its my cable as far as I can tell. I’m using a newer HDMI cable bc with my Nvidia App on Windows, I can boost the resolution of my games to 4K, even though I’m on a 1440p monitor, something Nvidia calls Display Super Resolution. Apparently, I can use this feature when hooked up to my monitor via a HDMI 2.1 cable but I recently got a newer VESA certified DP 1.4 cable (HDMI 2.1 has 48gbps of throughput, DP 1.4 has 80gbps, supposedly). What I didn’t know was that using a DP 1.4, at least with this monitor and this cable in this instance, forces the usage of DSC, Display Stream Compression, basically a way to push 4K and higher resolutions at faster refresh rates than 120hz. Unfortunately, this also prevents me from using DSR but does have the benefit of causing the flickering with the monitor to stop, weirdly enough. Unfortunately, I can’t turn this feature off or haven’t found a way to yet on my monitor. But that could be your issue.
