Created symlink for cachyos-rate-mirrors.timer?

To everyone: it seems to me that this new automation brings more problems than it promises to solve:

Error: config file /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist could not be read: Permission denied

Hm… then I really wonder how my pacman.conf got the wrong permissions. I swear I dind’t touch it manually.

Issue with yay after recent update

Thanks for all the replies. For ~48hrs there were no updates available through pacman. But updates were available today via pacman -Su. The first update was pretty large and included both the mainline and lts kernels, as well as, the cachy-rate-mirrors package. I rebooted but yay still failed with the same error. Attempting to install paru resulted in an error very similar to the errors yay was throwing. Then a few minutes ago I ran pacman again and it updated llvm and a few associated package…

Cachyos-rate-mirrors can leave /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist unreadable (0600) when the service dies mid-run

I hit this bug today. After the mirror refresh ran, paru and pacman-conf started failing for me with: error: config file /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist could not be read: Permission denied error parsing ‘/etc/pacman.conf’ ==> ERROR: Cannot fetch updates /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist had been left as: -rw------- 1 root root … /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist That made pacman config unreadable. This was not reflector.timer on my system. reflector.timer was disabled. The service that actually ran was cachyos-…

So I disabled it:

    systemctl disable --now cachyos-rate-mirrors.timer
    systemctl disable --now cachyos-rate-mirrors.service
